The OML 40 license lies within the Niger Delta, approximately 75km north-west of Warri and covers an area of 498 km. It has production, booked developed and undeveloped reserves and oil export for 30,000 blpd comprising a flowstation and an export pipeline.

OML 40 is owned by NPDC/Elcrest Joint Venture (JV), with 55% owned by NPDC and 45% by Elcrest Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited. Starcrest owns 55% of the 45% Elcrest holding.
